You would think this goes without saying but there are so many places to visit in Italy. Rome has to be the top spot. It is one of my favourite places in the world. It has everything. The first time I went it was for a day-imagine, what can you do in Rome in one day? The next time it was for five days, much better.

On my Italian cheap city breaks I stayed in a hotel on the Vatican side of the river and for me the location was perfect. I don’t suppose anyone goes to Rome without visiting St.Peter’s and whatever your purpose: religious , lover of art or history , it is there. It is also worth going to the top for the view over Rome and the view from the gallery half way up. Also, the Vatican museum and the Cistine Chapel are must visits. It is just not possible to describe how amazing these places are. You just have to go. It is worth the queue so go early. There are audio guides available and you must have your passport or they will not let you have one. It is a good idea to plan in advance what your priorities are as you will not see the whole thing in one visit. For instance I had been to Egypt so I gave that room a miss.

There are the usual hop on hop off tours which are always a good way to get your bearings as it will make your Rome travel breaks easier to plan. I tended to walk everywhere, it gives you a good feel of the atmosphere and you see things you would otherwise miss, but the bus is quicker. There are self guided walking tours which go to all the main points of interest including the Trevi Fountain. If you need to stop for a quick bite while you are walking about you should try the brightly coloured vans which sell slices of pizza and panini and drinks. They are good value and you can save your evening meal to relax.

I also loved Castell Gandolfo as this was the backdrop to one of my favourite operas , ‘Tosca’. Another favourite was the Villa Borghese , the paintings and the sculptures were amazing but you must book well in advance and take your passport to get the audio guide. I would certainly not want to miss the Pantheon which was a Roman temple later becoming a Christian Church. Don’t be put off by the ugly exterior the inside is amazing with the huge dome and the tomb of Raphael. There are no windows, the only light is from the hole high up in the centre of the dome.

I enjoyed the outside places too. The Forum, The iconic Colosseum, Trajan’s Market (probably the first shopping mall) and of course all the Piazzas.

After all this there is the shopping and eating to fit in. One of my best half hours was sitting in the Piazza Navona by Bernini’s wonderful fountain, drinking coffee and eating a cannoli.

Remember to throw a coin over your shoulder into the Trevi Fountain, as you will certainly want to return.

It is obvious why Italy is a popular tourist destination. It has so much variety to offer the visitor including ancient Roman sites and incredible historic myths and legends, fascinating cities, elegant and chic boutiques, excellent cuisine and flamboyant residents. In addition, it has some of the best coastal resorts and beaches in Europe, with a fantastic climate.

Abruzzo is located in the southern Adriatic and boasts that 30% of its land is protected by environmental legislation. It has 3 national parks, as well as a regional park and protected sites and nature reserves. The regional capital is L’Aquila which means “the eagle” and the city is dominated by its 16th century castle which is home to the national museum of Abruzzo. There are many religious and civic monuments from the medieval and renaissance periods worth visiting in the region. The coastal area of Abruzzo includes the popular resort of Pescara.

The coastal regions boast unspoilt and quiet beaches and the whole area remains relatively undiscovered and under developed by tourism. Abruzzo has 129 km of beaches, the best to visit being Fossacesia and Vasto Marina on its southern coast. Silvi Marina, Francavilla al Mare and Pineto are also good beaches and are located in the north of the region.

Chieti has a splendid archaeological museum housing artefacts including the famous Warrior of Capestrano, a 6th century BC funerary statue. In Teramo the visitor can visit the antepodium within its cathedral. The festival of serpents is held in Cocullo and brings thousands of visitors to the small village on the first Sunday each May.

Abruzzo has a wealth of folklore traditions, fine cuisine, excellent local cheeses and wines. There are numerous tours of local vineyards for the visitor to enjoy as well as excursions to the best known sites in the region. There are several winter ski resorts, including Roccaraso, Campo Felice and Campo Imperatore, all within 2 hours drive of Rome.

The region is also excellent for Walking and Hiking Holidays, horse riding and mountain climbing. The climate is typically Mediterranean with hot summers and mild winters, although the higher altitudes offer excellent winter sports conditions. Regional cuisine is exceptional in Abruzzo and local dishes include prosciutto di cinghiale, local sheep’s cheese, salami with honey and stewed beans with pork rind.

Abruzzo International Airport is located in Pescara and is served by several of the low cost airlines operating from London, Frankfurt and Barcelona. Mostly Ryan air from London. The A24, A25, A14 are the three motorways that access many coastal destinations and major cities and towns in Abruzzo.

It can also be accessed from Rome by train, with a wonderful journey through the Appenine valleys and picturesque towns. There is also a regular bus service running from Rome to L’Aquila, Pescara and Vasto. Car hire offers the visitor the opportunity for independent travel and with car rental Rome is a great place to begin the journey.

Where would be the first place that would come to mind when planning your romantic vacation breaks?

Venice? Of course it would.

Even in winter it has that certain something that makes us think of romance with the masked balls, the gondoliers and the wonderful buildings and bridges.

There are many hidden corners too just to wander
around and cafes to linger over coffee or something a little stronger. Perhaps a Bellini in Harry’s bar.

This is all very well but not everyone can afford Venice and it doesn’t matter because not everyone thinks of it as the most romantic place.

Italy as a whole is generally thought of as romantic because of the wonderful heritage of art and music.

So where to go if Italy isn’t on the menu?

There are some wonderful destinations where you can enjoy your honetmoon travels and they don’t all have to be in faraway places.

In England the cities of Oxford and Cambridge and York have much the same ambience as Venice , Cambridge especially.

You can take a romantic punt on the river, and if you find being in a boat romantic you can take to the river in York too.

If wide open spaces are your idea of a romantic destination then what could rival the Lake District,
the Peak District or Scotland.

Taking a break in Scotland it would be very easy to combine the romantic city of Edinburgh with the beautiful countryside.

The only thing you may not get in Britain is warm weather, and certainly not if you intend to take your romantic break in February so you would have to travel to the southern hemisphere where there is a choice of islands and exotic places to choose from.

Let’s just mention here the other place that often springs to mind if ‘romantic’ is mentioned, and money is
no object ,the Taj Mahal.

Maybe the actual location isn’t too important.

Many hotels do special deals for romantic breaks and honeymoons.

Some of these incorporate a wedding but some provide the
flowers , champagne and chocolates along with luxuries such as beauty treatments, a spa, and delicious meals which mean you don’t have to bother with the exact
location.

Which of course also means you may not have to travel too far either.

Some people would find it romantic to travel to somewhere more out of the ordinary like the Himalayas or the Andes (not for a short break though).

How romantic to see Everest with the one you love.

It is not possible to mention everyone’s idea of romantic places to visit, we haven’t even touched on the USA with San Francisco , New York and all their wonderful National Parks.

Perhaps the essential part of the idea is ‘with your lover’.

Would it really matter where you were?

Some of the most unromantic places in the eyes of others would soon appear to be the most romantic place on earth if you were there with the one you love.

Are you paying attention in taking a trip? Whether you are looking to take a customary trip with your family or go on a romantic getaway, have you ever thought about going on a hiking journey? Hiking adventures are nice because they are great for just about everyone, as well as just about any time.

Why hiking is great for both romantic getaways and family trips is because hiking trials come in a number of different formats. In the United States, you will find hiking trails that are planned for beginners, experts as well as those that are at the intermediate hiking level. This is great if you are planning on hiking with your children, as you should be able to discover a number of hiking trails that would be easy for them to hike.

One of the many reasons why hiking is wonderful for a romantic getaway is because of the scenery. No matter what hiking trail you choose to hike, there is a good possibility that you will come across a wide array of landscape. Many hiking trails are set next to rivers; therefore, there is a good possibility that you will get to see some waterfalls. These waterfalls, as well as the other scenery types that you may come across are ideal for romantic getaways.

In keeping with dreamy getaways, hiking adventures can last as short as a few hours or as long as a whole week. Many persons who go hiking prefer to stay onsite, often at an onsite campground. This is nice, as when you are camping you are one with nature. This setting is great for privacy, as well as romance. As for family vacations, camping during the night at a hiking park is also nice, as it adds another fun activity for you and your family to enjoy. If you are preparation on hiking with your children, there is a good chance that they would find the camping part just as stirring as the hike itself.

When you go hiking, you will likely end up visiting a hiking park. Hiking parks are often home to a number of different hiking trails. Besides being home to a number of hiking trails, as well as a campground, you will also likely get a number of other behavior for you and your family or you and your romantic partner to contribute in. For example, it is not uncommon for a hiking park to have a playground or a swimming pool. This means that you and whoever else you are with may enjoy playing a few outdoor games or going for a swim. In today’s society, hiking isn’t just about hiking anymore.

From being outlined above, hiking is the perfect way to use your next Family Vacation. If you are interested in enjoying a Hiking Adventure, you may want to think about making your doubts in advance. While you may not necessarily need a reservation to just go hiking, you may need one if you are paying attention in camping out overnight. Making your doubts in advance will help to ensure that you’re next hiking and camping adventure is as brilliant as possible.

The eternal city of Rome is famous of its cultural and historical sights, but one of the most important treasures in Rome’s environment are Vatican Museums. If you choose to Traveling to Rome, be sure to take a whole day excursion to visit the city of Vatican. In fact, when you get there, you’ll catch that one day is to short to look all that treasures. My recommendation is to find lodging nearby the Vatican. Than you can roam around whenever you want and feel the city and its spirituality. Besides, close to the Vatican, it’s easy to find Hotel Accommodations even at lover price.

It’s better to use the City Metro, than you can arrive to any other tourist destination in Rome in a few minutes.

On Show in the Vatican Museums are few thousands of pieces of art that represent more than four thousands years of human past, from the head of the Egyptian king Mentuhotep, a portrait dating from 2050 BC, to art-pieces of modern art. These heritage from the historic art and the present have been assembled in the Vatican collections through the intelligence and good taste of numerous popes. It is almost impossible to choose just a few pieces of art to be mentioned from the thousands of arts on show in the Vatican. But if I have to mention only one of masterpieces in Vatican, that have made me breathless it would be the final work of my favorite artist, one of the greatest artists ever, Raphael.

First, I have to mention that even the main gateway of the Vatican Museum is one of the amazing masterpiece. The doorway was built in 1932 by the architect Giuseppe Momo as a new enter door into the Vatican Museums, opens through the massive walls built in the 16th century for the protecting of Vatican. It is surmounted by two statues, works by Pietro Melandri, showing the two the most famous artists who spent the biggest part of their lives adding to the treasures of the Vatican and the city of Rome: on one side there is genius of the Renaissance, Michelangelo, represented with the sculptor’s mallet in his hand; and on the other side is the great painter Raphael, with his palette and brushes.

My dearest painting in Vatican Museum you can find in Room VIIII. It is one of Raphael’s most powerfull works, painting named „The Transfiguration“, oil on wood, 410×279 cm, dating from 1520.

Raphael, one of the most famous artists ever, died on 1520. at the age of only 37, before he could complete it. Because of the beauty of its colours, its formal perfection and its markable spirituality, this painting can beregarded as Raphael’s artistic and religious testament. The painting seems almost to be divided into two parts, one above the other, representing two motives described in the Bible. Before his crucifixion Jesus asked the apostoles Peter, James and John to go with him to the summit of Mount Tabor. The Bible tell us that here Jesus was transfigured and appeared bathed in [spin]light, in conversation with Moses and the prophet Elijah. This sight frightened the apostles and at the same time gave them strengths.

The lower session of thepicture shows young man’s possessed by the demon. His face and body are distorted by the struggle with demon inside him. The boy’s parents and relatives beg the apostles for help. The beautifuamazingl female figure in the foreground is representing the Faith. She also invites Christ’s disciples to act. The apostles show to Jesus, who actually expels the demon.

In this final work Raphael shows how, after seeing the frescoes in the Sistine Chapel, he has totally understood and accepted Michelangelo’s extraordinary new message of art. All the figures are strongly rendered. Faith has the strength and beauty of Sibyl painted by Michelangelo. Raphael came close to finish this piece and it was subsequently completed by his pupils.

If you prefer airfares to Italy using the low budget flights for your vacation to Italy, it is suggested that you choose the exact airline that is suitable with your budget and comfort. Even so, it is suggested that you book a flight to Italy up to 3 months in advance in order to get more affordable ticket price.

There are many airline companies which open their routes to several main cities in Italy, either directly or through air correspondences (transfer). There are top main destination cities for your flights to Italy, such as Milan, Rome, Naples, and even recently Bologna. Milan and Rome are the favorite destination cities for both low-budget and exclusively reputable airlines, and can be reached especially by international flights outside Europe; while Bologna and Naples are usually for European flights. There are also airports for domestic flights from and to different cities in Italy like Turin, Bari, Venice.

For low-budget, international flights from Asia which is mostly preferred by international students, there are Emirates, Qatar Airways and Etihad. But you must book the flight ticket at least up to 3 months in advance, especially during the period of peak season in August and September. With these airlines, usually you also have to make a transfer flight first depending on the country in which these airlines companies are based; for example if you choose Emirates then you have to make a transfer flight in Dubai as its international based hub. It is interesting that you can have the opportunity to get the return flight ticket with as little as 400 USD if you manage to book it earlier.

For low-budget flights from cities in Europe, you can choose to go with easyjet or ryanair. But sometimes these low-budget flights charge you more if you require more service like baggages and meals. One thing to note, ryanair has opened another new destination to Bologna. I think it is due to many students and businessmen coming to study and work in this city, and they would prefer direct transportation than by taking train from Milan-Bergamo airport. There also other new growing low cost budget airlines which open direct flights from and to Italy, but it is advisable that you pay attention with the additional fees you will be charged for. Sometimes, despite the promotion offer they give to future passengers, they will require you to pay more fees for tax, surcharge, and fuels, internet booking; these things that at first are not revealed while making your own reservation.

But if you choose a comfortable and exclusive flight there is certainly Alitalia. This airline company serves international flights to and from all continents. So, fly to Italy is up to you to choose what kind of flight for your travel to Italy.

Everyone wants to get away to the tropics however most people think that a tropical vacation is beyond their means. They think that in order to experience white sand beaches and beautiful blue expanses of ocean they must save up for years in order to get that one or two weeks in paradise they so desire. What these people don’t realize is that a cheap Barbados vacation is easily within reach. All it takes is a bit of planning and creative thinking to make the vacation of everyone’s dreams a reality.

In order to book a cheap vacation you need to become a master planner and learn how to maximize your savings by thinking ahead and staying flexible. There are several strategies that you can use to accomplish these goals however everything stems from having a well thought out game plan.

For starters you need to look at the two big expenses when it comes to vacations. Airfare fees and hotel fees. Traditionally Barbados is not a cheap destination to visit, so if you’re looking for a cheap Barbados vacation you need to start early by booking inexpensive hotel and plane tickets. The best way to do this is by looking for accommodation deals that include both airfare and hotel stays. There are plenty of sources for these deals on the Internet and culling through all of them will take some time. Start early and do not rush this process. This is the single most important thing you can do to save money. Become a discerning consumer and do your due diligence by comparison-shopping all the deals you can find.

When it comes to booking cheap airline and hotel deals you need to be flexible in your schedule as you can often find the best deals during the off-season or during certain days of the week. Obviously if you’re going to Barbados you want to go during peak travel season when the weather is the nicest. You could save some money by traveling in the off-season but for this type of tropical destination you really wouldn’t want to. Instead you need to maximize your savings by making hotel and airline reservations well in advance during the days when people do not traditionally fly or stay in hotels like Tuesdays and Wednesdays. By planning a trip around the midweek you can save a great deal of money without making sacrifices regarding the time of year you wish to travel.

Another great way to help facilitate a cheap Barbados vacation is to not break the bank on your food budget. Eating out three times a day for two weeks can be incredibly expensive. Therefore instead of eating out everyday look for a hotel that offers a kitchen where you can prepare at least some of your meals in the hotel room and thus save a lot of money. If one is not available try to find the small eateries where the locals enjoy eating. Often times you’ll find that these places are far less expensive than larger establishments and your hotel’s restaurant.

If you and your family are already bicycling enthusiasts, then I won’t need to tell you how enjoyable biking is. But you might need some convincing on whether or not a car roof rack is a worth-while investment. So I’ll get to you in a moment.

But what about the rest of you? Why go biking?

Quite simply, biking is a lot of fun. It’s good exercise, it’s clean transportation, and it’s quiet. If you have young children they can ride behind you in kiddie seats, older children can have their own bikes, and even grandparents will be able to keep active with three-wheeled cycles as well. With all the outcry about the weight problems of the average American, it makes sense to get your kids involved in exercise early - and the fun exercise of biking might be just the ticket.

There’s a lot to be said for biking to and from your local store when you need a few groceries, or for your kids to bike to school or to a friend’s house. But most cities have bike trails scattered throughout, or parks or places in the suburbs where you can get out and spend the entire day biking in the quiet retreat of the outdoors.

And that’s where the bike rack comes in.

Sure, your bike might fit into you’re the trunk of your car, or into the back of your SUV. But do you want to go to the effort of taking off the rear tires and working to make them fit in your spacious trunk? Do you want your SUV’s upholstery stained with dirt or grease? Do you want to take the chance of scratching your car, or your bike, while hauling it in and out of the trunk?

How much easier it is to acquire a car roof rack. It’s easy to install on top of your car, and then it’s just a question of lifting the bike into place so that the self-clamping clamps can do their thing. And when you’re not using the rack to carry your bikes, most of them are adjustable so you can carry skies,

Do you have bad memories of roof-racks of the past? Well, technology has marched onward, and so has the quality of today’s roof racks. Bikes are kept stable and secure until you reach your destination. Roof racks are safer than rear-mounted racks, since you never know if that motorist behind you might want to inch up a bit…and give your precious bikes a bump or two! The only issu for you to remember with a roof rack is that you actually have bikes attached to the top of your car, so you don’t try to drive into a low garage and total the bikes!
